NEWS UPDATE - Joyce's Podcast - Apr 2006

The Cross of Merit of the Order of the Lion of Finland
awarded October 2003

pinning.jpg (6353 bytes)At the end of September we travelled down to London with Joyce for a memorable experience being entertained at the Finnish Residence (in London's "Embassy Row", next to the Russian Ambassador's). Joyce was being presented with an award (for cultural services to Finland), and was allowed to take six guests. We had expected her to be among a number of recipients of various awards, but in fact it was just our party at the residence where the Finnish Ambassador presented the medal in recognition of her many years of organising musical exchanges of British musicians and choirs touring Finland, and bringing those from Finland to tour in Britain. After the informal presentation we enjoyed a beautifully presented three course lunch and then chatted to the Ambassador and his staff over coffee. At one point Martin spotted a fox running across the lawn outside and he told us about the litter of six cubs that they'd had the previous year in their gardens.
