Here's some seasonal pictures of the Christmas week snowfall and the effect on our
neighbourhood. Martin took some pictures on the Thursday morning and hoped to get them
processed, scanned and published by Thursday afternoon, but the photo printing machine (at
the shop) had a paper jam which wasn't fixed until Friday. This year we hoped we might
have a digital camera which would be much more suitable for this sort of thing, but we
haven't - partly because Martin can't decide what to get. If you've got one yourself and
have any opinions one way or the other, please let us know....
(ABOVE) The scene that greeted us on Thursday morning - and not looking much different
now apart from a few more footprints and tyre tracks. (BELOW LEFT) The
view from our back window, with the Yucca bending under the weight of snow.
(BELOW RIGHT) More of the back garden. The white "pipe"
across the top of frame is our washing line, enlarged with snow to many times its normal
diameter.
(ABOVE & BELOW) Two views, one looking down and
other looking out of Silver Birch Grove
(ABOVE) Our unexpectedly "two-tone" Renault Scenic (normally a dark metallic
blue)
Our
Holidays
Not much to report here, I'm afraid. One week in Halkidiki (Greece) during October
2000. Very cheap, very end-of-season. Very average. And yet this one picture, taken whilst
on a day out to the neighbouring peninsular, makes it look far better.
The Buzz
Still going strong, and now with its own web site - www.buzzcomedy.co.uk. If you fancy what's usually a
good night of stand-up comedy, The Buzz is on Thursday nights, upstairs at The Southern
pub, Nell Lane, Chorlton-cum Hardy in south Manchester. Last time I went, Jonny Vegas was
on the bill (before he became a TV regular).
House & Home
Well, we've been here for 15 years now and most of the house is still undecorated, and
little changed in 2000. That said, we can actually see a lot more of it now that much of
the business has moved to Salford Quays. That equates to having a hallway uncluttered by
several cubic metres of cardboard boxes, a double garage that can actually accommodate
cars, and soon (when the last of it gets moved) a lounge that can revert to its intended
purpose. Not that we ever did use it much as a lounge, but it might be nice to see what we
can make of it...
